CDT Codes
Beginning January 2009, HIPAA requires dentists to use CDT 2009/2010 codes to represent dental procedures performed after January 1, 2009. Specifically, HIPAA requires all procedures for electronic claim submissions to use the code set that is current for the date of service.
You may have questions as to how this update will affect you and your practice. Easy Dental has a plan to help you smoothly navigate the CDT code changes:
Easy Dental Customers with an active Annual Support and Upgrade Plan
- If you are an Easy Dental customer on an Annual Support and Upgrade Plan, a utility is available that will automatically update your software with the CDT 2009/2010 codes.
The utility will work with Easy Dental 2008 only. If you are running a previous version, you will need to upgrade before using this utility.

- If you are running a version prior to Easy Dental 2008, you will need to upgrade before using this utility OR simply go to
www.easydental.com/resourcecenter/ and enter in your CustomerID and zip code, and search for article #42139 and follow the instructions. If you have any questions please contact Support at 1-800-824-6375.
- Alternatively, you may order the CDT 2009/2010 code update utility on CD by calling Easy Dental Sales at 1-800-824-6375. The price of the CD is $14.95, which covers the cost of 2-day shipping and handling.
Easy Dental Customers not on an active Annual Support and Upgrade Plan
- If you are an Easy Dental customer not on an active Annual Support and Upgrade Plan, you can order the CDT 2009/2010 code update utility on CD for $59.95. The utility will automatically update your software with the CDT 2009/2010 codes. You can order the CD by calling Easy Dental Sales at 1-800-824-6375. - Alternatively, you can update the codes in your system by contacting the ADA and purchasing the CDT 2009/2010 code book (a CD is also available) and manually entering the changes to the CDT codes into your system. If you need help, please feel free to contact Easy Dental at 1-800-593-2814 for a FAQ sheet that explains how to make these changes to your system. The FAQ sheet will not include the codes you need, just the instructions on how to update them.
