Henry Schein Announces the Launch of Easy Dental 2010

Easy Dental 2010 delivers practical new collections management, treatment management, scheduling and security capabilities that improve practice efficiency and productivity.

Henry Schein, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSIC), the largest distributor of health care products and services to office-based dental, medical and veterinary practitioners, today announced the immediate availability of Easy Dental 2010, the latest version of its popular practice management system for value conscious dental offices.

“Easy Dental has always been about giving dental practices an efficient and affordable set of management and clinical tools that are dependable and easy-to-use,” said Kevin Bunker, vice president and general manager of Henry Schein Practice Solutions. “Easy Dental 2010 builds on that tradition with useful new features that deliver real value without adding complexity or cost.”

The enhancements to Easy Dental 2010 focus on three key areas: a new Collections Manager that helps practices generate more revenue and improve profits, a new Treatment Manager that makes it easy for practices to track and follow up on open treatment plans and enhanced productivity tools that make overall scheduling and patient management more efficient and productive.

Collections Manager
Collections Manager changes the way practices handle outstanding collections by turning scattered and disorganized accounts receivable information into concise, prioritized and actionable reports. With Collections Manager, practices can quickly run reports on a wide variety of criteria, including insurance provider, guarantor, billing type and date, number of days past due, missed payments and more. This flexible, fine-grained control gives practices the information they need to make their collections efforts more productive and efficient.

Treatment Manager
Treatment Manager provides enhanced flexibility and control over the treatment planning process. With Treatment Manager, practices can run reports that quickly identify all patients with open treatment plans and sort them by type of work, payment information, insurance information, Office Journal entries and more. Staff members can also use Treatment Manager to manage and track their efforts to contact patients with unfinished treatment plans. These new treatment planning capabilities lead directly to more consistent treatment planning and improved patient care.

Other Enhancements
Easy Dental 2010 also delivers a number of important calendaring, scheduling and security enhancements. A new operatory event scheduling feature makes it possible to close operatories for hours or days without scheduling dummy appointments. Office managers can now set up, save and print a customized calendar for every clinician in the office. An enhanced clipboard allows office workers to reschedule multiple appointments more quickly and efficiently. A new Appointment Hover Window allows staff members to access appointment details and patient information by simply mousing over any appointment window. And enhanced patient privacy capabilities automatically mask social security numbers from staff members unless they have the proper authorization.

“Easy Dental customers have always valued the product’s unobtrusive, no-nonsense approach to practice management,” said Bunker. “With Easy Dental 2010, we listened carefully to those customers and used their input to add the practical, easy-to-use new features they requested most. The result is a product that gives our customers exciting new tools for measuring and managing business outcomes, turning treatment plans into revenue, improving the overall quality of patient care, and ultimately making their practices more profitable, productive and secure.”
