Let’s face it; despite your best efforts, it isn’t always easy to collect payments for work your practice performs. The trick is to be able to increase your collection rate and reduce the number of accounts receivable that devolve into bad debt.
With Easy Dental 2010, you can follow up on past-due accounts with the Collections Manager. The Collections Manager allows you to generate a report which lists over-due accounts for you to contact based on the criteria you specify. The criteria, called views, can include account information based on account balances, account or insurance claim aging or last payment date.
Before you can generate a Collections Manager report, you need to determine what information to include in the view.
To set up a view:
The Collections Manager dialog box opens. Click the View Setup button.
The Collections Manager Views dialog box appears.
Configure the settings for the view you want to create including selecting guarantor/guarantor range, provider(s), minimum balance, billing type(s), etc. Click OK.
A list of those patients that meet the view criteria appears. Select an account name from the list.
Click the Quick Letters, Send Message or Auto Dial buttons from the toolbar to contact the patient by letter, email message or phone, respectively.
Once a view is set up and the report is generated, you can sort the list of over-due accounts according to the columns you chose to display and filter the accounts to the criteria you determine is most important.
Using the Collections Manager doesn’t guarantee that you will collect on every outstanding account. However, by using the Collections Manager you can better stay on top of your accounts and keep your revenue streams flowing.
