Business Associate Agreement (BAA)
The HIPAA Privacy Rule requires that a covered entity obtain satisfactory assurances from its business associate that the business associate will appropriately safeguard the protected health information it receives or creates on behalf of the covered entity. The satisfactory assurances must be in writing, whether in the form of a contract or other agreement between the covered entity and the business associate.
Easy Dental Systems and National Information Services have prepared Business Associate Agreements in compliance with HIPAA standards. All customers are required to have a BAA on file with Easy Dental Systems prior to sending any patient data for data conversion services or data analysis, support or repair services. Customers are required to have a BAA on file with National Information Services prior to any electronic services being provided (such as electronic claims transmission). Having these documents on file protects our customers and offers our assurance of complete confidentiality and handling of health information under HIPAA regulations.
